Ten Things to do to Lower Your Insurance for Your Homeflooded house

1. Increase your deductible. You will lower your premiums if you do this. But you will need to decide how much more you can pay if you have a loss.

2. I f you buy your insurance policy for both your house and your automobile, from the same insurance agency, then you will probably get a lower rate.

3. Make your house damage proof as much as possible. Keep every thing in good repair such as your drains and the roof. If you can retrofit your home and protect it from common natural disasters this will help.

4. Make your house safer. Installation of items such as dead-bolts, alarms and smoke detectors will help. If you add these items you may qualify for a lower rate.

5. Is you home insured for the corrent? Don't forget - you need to cover it for the cost of replacement , not just the market value.

6. Are there additional discounts? If you are retired and are home alot rather than working you might qualify for a discount on burgalry insurance.

7. It's best to stay with the same insurance company. The insurance market is tight today, and your current company ismuch likelier to give you a good rate.

8. You might get a better insurance rate if you belong to groups such as associations, alumni groups and so on.

9. Know your policy limits.Know the value of your house and possessions adn check this on an annual basis. . You might not need as much coverage after some things depreciate.

10. Are there any government backed insurance policies?. If you are in a high risk areas, like a coastal area, flood plain, then federal or state governments may sponsor insurance plans at lower rates. Chekc with your insurance agent.
